Re-defining integrated photonics, Nexus presents the first fully integrated silicon nitride PICs

12.06.2021

Nexus directly unites III-V materials with silicon nitride waveguides on Si wafers for the first fully integrated silicon nitride PICs. Using this platform, Nexus achieves unprecedented coherence and tunability in an integrated laser operating at wavelengths shorter than the silicon's bandgap. The higher photon energy results in superb high-temperature performance and, for the first time, kHz-level fundamental linewidths at elevated temperatures up to 150℃.

Given the many potential applications at short wavelengths, the success of Nexus’s integration strategy unlocks a broad range of new integrated photonics applications.
